Manchester United’s hope of winning three trophies this season is over when AC Milan defeated the red devils by 3-0 in the return leg of the UEFA Champions League semi final. This victory means that AC Milan will now play Liverpool in the final. Before the match, Red Devils were ahead by one goal and a prospect of an all-English final was looming large but AC Milan played superbly against an insipid United side.
Brazilian playmaker Kaka, also the top scorer in the competition, scored his 10th goal of the tournament when he gave Milan the lead in an opening stanza of the match. Seedorf, scored the second goal in the dying moment of first half Manchester United defenders failed to clear their lines, giving Seedorf a chance to volley from the edge of the box. Stunned by these two goals, Manchester United decided to attack in the second half but was unable to score any goal despite creating plenty of chances. Substitute Alberto Gilardino sealed the victory for Milan 12 minutes from time when he swept the ball past Manchester United goalkeeper van der Sar to make the game safe at 3-0.
